We initially listened to a recording of a Radio 4 Broadcast from the ‘You & Yours’ program on the subject of Peak Oil (PO). Important points raised that could be used in the introductory talk to the film and networking event.
· Society needs to recognise the PO fact.
· There’s confusion around the data available to clarify PO.
· Oil discovery peaked in the mid 1960’s, this is a fact.
· Production of oil is slowing.
· Oil prices are fluxuating.
· Society as a whole appears to be reluctant to face up to the PO fact.
· There was a 6% fall on production last year.
· Shell is investing in gas exploration as they say easily accessible oil will be over by 2015.
· BP is showing more interest in Nuclear Power.
· Politicians are not shore what to do, so they do nothing!

Where is Transition Hull at the moment?
· So that we can establish Governance and write a Constitution, making us a charity and so being able to apply for funding and receive donations, we have three named trustees; Steve Hall, Chris King, and Sarah Morris.
· The bigger film showing event is now going to possibly be in January, after the other events we are organising have highlighted the TH Movement.
· We are organising a TH networking & film showing event.
· We are organising a table to promote our group at the FoE Green Fare.
· Overall we are forming this Transition Network in preparation for the end of our oil propelled economy’s end.

Actions agreed at the meeting
· Sarah Morris is going to design and print the contact cards to be given out at the Transition Event and the Green Fare.
· Lausanne Tranter is to book Spring Bank Community Centre tomorrow (02/10/08) for the 9th November 2008 1pm – 4pm.
· Lausanne Tranter is to arrange it for our group to meet up with Gyroscope.
· Sue Dack and Sarah Morris will arrange the tables, teas etc for the networking part of our event after the film showing.
· Steve Hall to review the invitation and to contact Diana about final design, text etc.

FoE Green Fare - Transition Hull’s Part
· Computer showing ‘The Story of Stuff’ a very short film, which will be on a loop.
· Possibly in a gazebo or side room.
· Contact cards.
· Contact harvesting sheet (see page 3, does every one think this is ok?)
· People to talk about the TH network.

TH Film and Networking Event

‘The Whoever come are the right people’ (p168 The Transition Handbook)

· This exercise is to bring in more of people and groups from our society to TH to form categorised working groups in the near future. One person from each working group to represent their groups’ thoughts, ideas etc on a Steering Group.
· Present the Transition idea to attendies as a well established working idea already.
